Description

Yay I finished it!! :D (WIP: fav.me/d7dty71 )

This is the Sanguine Sharpspitter (Sanguine meaning red or blood colored), a new Tidal Class dragon I created! :happybounce:  I had so much fun coloring this big guy :aww:
ANYWHO I haven't QUITE figured out all of the details about the species, but what I do know is that it lives in swampy areas both inland and along the coast. It can swim to great depths in lakes and oceans, and covers itself in mud to camouflage itself in the murky swamps. Unlike other Tidal Class dragons, the Sanguine Sharpspitter is able to live completely out of water. The "Sharpspitter" part of its name refers to its love of sea urchins. It will go out of its way to pry the spiny creatures off of rocks in tidal pools to eat. But beware! If you startle a Sanguine Sharpspitter while it is dining on its favorite food, you may find yourself dodging or covered with the sea urchin's spines. These dragons have learned how to pry open the sea urchins and keep some of the spines under their tongues to shoot at enemies from afar, and to hunt fast-swimming fish in the water. They are immune to the toxins of the sea urchin, and if a spine is accidentally swallowed, the dragon's digestive system will be completely unharmed, as it is lined with thick, viscous mucous that would trap the spines and safely transport them out the other end.

I love the name, design, and that little bit about it shooting sea urchin spines. That was pretty original.
